Philosophy
Travis Rice is an artist, designer, and illustrator who has been providing design and illustration support for clients in architecture, landscape architecture, and public art for over 20 years. His strengths lie in his ability to use his depth of experience in design and art to transform early project schematic thinking into visual reality. His approach is artfully digital and his philosophy is to not only create drawings that illustrate essential design information, but also convey a narrative that evokes emotion. He feels ideas need to look like ideas and strives to create drawings with a soul.
Education
Travis received his Bachelor of Landscape Architecture degree from Ball State University and a Master of Fine Arts degree in drawing and painting from Arizona State University. He has recently taught as a Visiting Professor of Landscape Architecture at Ball State University and currently teaches within the Fine Arts Department at Phoenix College in Phoenix, AZ. He also spent three years teaching drawing and color theory within Arizona State University's Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts, as well as six years teaching as a lecturer within Iowa State University's Department of Landscape Architecture.
